Summertime

And not a moment too soon. Miami was fantastic, timing notwithstanding. Necessary for many reasons. Kanik got back to the neighborhood and, after some rough patches, got back to making and thinking for the future with spirits high and mindset right.

Kanik's in Miami, Trick!

Just a quick update here: Kanik completed his second chemo treatment and is officially on vacation in Miami right now.  He felt pretty good on Saturday -- he was walking around Brooklyn and meeting various friends for meals.  James took Kanik to the hospital in the middle of the day for a scheduled shot and John spent the night at his apartment.  However, Sunday was a different story and, though he was able to meet friends for brunch, Kanik began to feel worse and worse as the day wore on.  He was debating whether or not he was well enough to board his flight this morning but, ultimately, made the decision to go.  Sarah got him to the airport and Adam flew down this afternoon to meet him in sunny Florida for a couple days of relaxation and "dude-ing."  Hopefully, fun vacation pictures to follow...

GEARING UP FOR TREATMENT #2

Kanik learned something very important this week: he has a perfectly-shaped noggin.  Kanik's hair is now falling out BUT, not surprisingly, he can pull it off.  The plan is to get a slamming haircut today and rock his new look.  So, lesson learned: Mr. Chung is STILL handsome, both with and without hair. 

And Chemo Treatment #2 is set for this Friday.  Kanik is sharpening his swords, polishing his armor and is ready for battle with this em-effer.  It helps he has a mini vacation to Miami Beach to look forward to next week.  He just needs to get through the weekend and will be lounging on the beach by Monday. 

Kanik is covered for rides both to and from the treatment, but can use all the good mojo you can send his way.  If he needs any additional help this weekend, we'll post and ask for it (rides, healthy meals, etc.).

Springtime Baseball

Some of us dudes found ourselves at el juego de beisbol on Sunday to watch the Mets take on the Diamondbacks. (Thanks so much for the awesome seats Meredith!!!).

K-man, John Dub, Banks and I had a fantastic day at the park--lots of dogs, burgers, nuts and beverages to go with the lovely day and the heckling.
Even better: 2 1/2 hour game and a quick train ride back to civilization (sorry Queens).
Great way to gear up for the next round of battle on Friday.

Kanik bails to blow glass

Our usual breakfast date was rained out due to glass blowing. Typical. But I have it on good authority that he is doing rather rad today.

Good news and Books

After K's rough few days last week, his doctor wanted to have him come in for an exam yesterday.  K spent an entire day in the hospital, waiting to see his doctor but the good news is that he was able to read Mindy Kaling's Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns) cover to cover.  He liked it.

And that's about it.

Oh, wait.  There was MORE good news. K's doctor gave him a full exam and said everything looked good.  It was definitely reassuring at this beginning stage.  Also, since K has been incredibly tired and groggy taking Sorafenib, his doctor said he could stop for a few days; see how he feels and begin taking it again when he feels a bit better.  Apparently, this will not affect K's treatment.  So, K isn't taking the Sorafenib for the rest of the week and will plan to see his doctor again on Friday for another check-up.

Let's think of another good book for K to read on Friday.  I'm suggesting this because it's always relevant.
